To encourage the development of reflection, it’s very much about challenging learners in a non-challenging way, which is a bit of a contradiction. We have 1:1 conversation with them; we have debriefed on activities; and in our normal performance process as the employer, we would always challenge them: ‘how do you think that went?’; ‘do
you think there was anything you would like to do differently?’; ‘what do you think next the time you would do, should the same thing happen?’.

It is about open questioning, and really trying to help people to explore their own experiences and to provide their own answers in this respect.
